Yet another wild weekend in the NFL, as chaos reigned down again. There was movement all over the power rankings this week, as 5 of the top 10 teams from last week lost, including the top 3 teams. The Bills lost a wild one in Miami, the Chiefs lost a tight one to the Colts, and the Buccaneers dropped a close one to the Packers. After 3 weeks, we only have two undefeated teams, and on the flip side two winless teams. Let’s get into it.
1.) Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are number one! Repeat the Dolphins are number one! I was trying to think back to the last time the Phins would be at the top of a power ranking, and I couldn’t. Here we are. The Phins squeaked by the previously ranked #1 Bills 21-19. Tua had a scare during the game but came back. Jaylen Waddle went over 100 yards receiving again and the Dolphins defense stopped Josh Allen twice in the fourth quarter for the victory and the lead in the AFC East. The Dolphins have a quick turnaround this week as the play the Bengals on Thursday Night Football.
2.) Philadelphia Eagles (3-0)
The Eagles move up to number two this week, after running through the Washington Commanders. Jalen Hurts had a nice showing, passing for 340 yards and 3 TDs, with 169 of those yards going to Devonta Smith. Smith also added a TD. Smith’s tag team partner, AJ Brown added 5 receptions for 85 and a score. The Eagles defense held the Commanders to only 50 yards in the first half while sacking Carson Wentz 6 times. The Eagles D had 9 sacks in the games, led by Brandon Graham, who had 2 1/2. The Eagles host the Jaguars in Week 4.
3.) Buffalo Bills (2-1)
Well, so much for the undefeated season. But that really wasn’t realistic. Buffalo traveled to Miami and lost to the Dolphins 21-19. They had their opportunities in the fourth quarter but couldn’t punch the ball into the end zone. Josh Allen passed for 400 yards and added 47 more on the ground. The Bills play the Ravens on Sunday.
4.) Kansas City Chiefs (3-1)
The Chiefs lost a tough game to the Colts 20-17. Backup kicker, ya gotta love it, but the backup kicker finally bit them in the ass as Matt Ammendola missed an extra point and a 34-yard field goal that may have shifted this game. However, none of that matters. The Chiefs fall to 2-1 and will travel to Tampa Bay to play the Buccaneers this week on Sunday Night Football.
5.) Los Angeles Rams (2-1)
The defending champs are now on a two-game winning streak after traveling to Arizona and defeating the Cardinals 20-12. It was in large part due to Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and the Rams defense. Cooper Kupp and Cam Akers both added rushing TDs. This was a big win for the Rams as they travel to San Francisco to play the 49ers on Monday Night Football this week. That’ll be a big swing game for the Rams. If they win it’ll move them to 3-1 and the 49ers to 1-3.
6.) Green Bay Packers (2-1)
The Packers move up a couple spots this week after traveling to Tampa Bay and defeating Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Green Bay’s defense looked great, forcing two turnovers and holding the Bucs to under 300 yards of total offense. Aaron Rodgers was efficient, passing for 255 yards and 2 touchdowns. But most importantly he may have found himself a new number one target in Romeo Doubs. Doubs caught 8 balls for 73 yards and a touchdown. The Packers host the Patriots in Week 4.
7.) Baltimore Ravens (2-1)
The Ravens bounced back nicely this week after they blew a 3-touchdown fourth-quarter lead against the Dolphins last week. Lamar Jackson played lights out again leading the Ravens to a 37 to 26 victory over the Patriots. Jackson had 218 passing yards, 107 rushing yards, and 5 total touchdowns. Pay this man! The Ravens host the Bills in a battle of 2-1 teams in Week 4.
8.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1)
Tough game for the Buccaneers this week, losing a close one to the Packers 14-12. The Bucs had a chance to tie the game on a two-point conversion and push the game to overtime but the two-point conversion failed. In large part due to a delay of game on the play. The Buccaneers offense didn’t play well as the Packers held them under 200 total yards until the final drive of the game. Injuries or not the Bucs are going to need to get it together before Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs come to town this week.
9.) Minnesota Vikings (2-1)
The Vikings get back into the top 10 this week, with a comeback victory at home over the Detroit Lions 28-24. It was Kirk Cousins connecting with K.J. Osborn for a touchdown with 45 seconds that put the Vikings ahead. The defense finished it and the Vikes moved to 2-1. Cousins had an efficient game, passing for 260 yards (only 14 of those yards to Justin Jefferson) and 2 scores while Dalvin Cook added 96 yards and a score on the ground. The Vikings travel to London this week to play the Saints.
10.) Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1)
I’m sure I will take some heat for this, but I don’t care. What the Jaguars have done to start the season has been flat-out awesome. They just dropped 38 points and 413 total yards on the Chargers. Trevor Lawrence had a nice game connecting on 29 of his 38 pass attempts for 260 yards and 3 touchdowns. James Robinson continued to impress adding 100 yards on the ground and a score. But what was really impressive was the Jaguars defense, holding the Chargers to just 10 points. The Jaguars boast the second-best point differential in the league at plus 46. We will see how for real the Jaguars are this week when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the undefeated Eagles.
