Week 5 NFL Power Rankings

Another wild weekend in the NFL just culminated with the 49ers defeating the Rams on Monday Night Football 24-9, bringing both teams to 2-2. With those two teams moving to 2-2, that gives us 15 teams at 2-2. We also see only one undefeated team in the Philadelphia Eagles and one winless team in the Houston Texans. Alot of parody to start the season. Let’s get into this week’s power rankings.

1.) Philadelphia Eagles (4-0)

The Eagles move to the top spot of the power rankings this week after defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 29-21. The Eagles showed moxy this game, coming back from 14 points down. The Eagles went over 400 total yards on the day, including 210 on the ground. Miles Sanders had a game, rushing for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns, while AJ Brown caught 5 balls for 95 yards. The Eagles travel to Phoenix to take on the Cardinals in Week 5.

2.) Kansas City Chiefs (3-1)

Apparently, Patrick Mahomes wasn’t over the Super Bowl loss. Mahomes and the Chiefs came out on a mission, going up 21-3 early on the Buccaneers, en route to a 41-31 victory. Mahomes passed for 3 TDs including one to Travis Kelce, who caught 9 balls for 92 yards. The Chiefs host the Raiders in Week 5 before a huge game with the Bills in Week 6.

3.) Buffalo Bills (3-1)

The Bills got back on the winning side of things after coming back from a 20-3 deficit against the Ravens. The weather was sloppy but the Bills found a way to get it done. Jordan Poyer had two key interceptions and Josh Allen led the Bills down the field with his arm and legs to move the Bills to 3-1. Allen had 70 yards on the ground and a score. The Bills host the Steelers in Week 5 before traveling to Kansas City in Week 6.

4.) Miami Dolphins (3-1)

The Dolphins fell a couple of spots this week after losing to the Bengals 27-15 on Thursday Night Football. In a scary scene, Tua was carted off the field. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Teddy Bridgewater stepped in and had a good rapport with Tyreek Hill. Hill had a big game catching 10 balls for 160 yards. The Dolphins take on the Jets in Week 5.

5.) Green Bay Packers (3-1)

Although they struggled at home with the Patriots (who had a third-string QB playing), the Packers move up a spot and into the top 5. Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon combined to rush for 183 yards and Allen Lazard had 6 receptions for 116 yards, helping the Packers defeat the Patriots 27-24 in OT. The Packers play the New York Giants in London this week.

6.) Minnesota Vikings (3-1)

The 3-1 Vikings rise a few spots this week after defeating the New Orleans Saints in London 28-25. My boy J Rock is about to be pumped as I am about to hype a kicker, as Greg Joseph was a catalyst in the Vikes victory this week, hitting all 5 of his field goal attempts. Justin Jefferson also got back on track catching 10 balls for 147 yards and adding a score on the ground. The Vikings host the Bears in Week 5.

7.) Dallas Cowboys (3-1)

Cooper Rush continues to win games for the Dallas Cowboys as Rush led the Cowboys to a 25-10 victory over the Commanders. Rush was efficient, passing for 223 yards and 2 TDs. CeeDee Lamb had another nice game with Rush under center, catching 6 balls for 97 yards and a score. Dallas defense got after Carson Wentz all game, hitting him 11 times and picking him off twice. Dallas travels to Los Angeles to play the Rams in Week 5.

8.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2)

Tampa has lost two in a row but they lost to two top 5 teams in the Packers and the Chiefs, so here they are still in the top 10. The Bucs offense had been struggling but this week Brady got his weapons back and put up points but Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense was too much for the Bucs and they lost 41-31. Brady passed for 385 yards and 3 TDs, connecting with 10 different receivers. The Bucs have a potential get-right game with the Falcons coming up in Week 5.

9.) San Francisco 49ers (2-2)

The 49ers move into the top 10 for the first time this season after defeating the Rams with relative ease on Monday Night Football 24-9. Deebo Samuel was a beast against the Rams, catching 6 passes for 115 yards, including a 57-yard TD catch and run. The 49ers defense played great all night. They had 7 sacks, 9 tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, forced a fumble, and had a pick. Big game for the 49ers defense and a huge win for the 49ers over the Rams. The 49ers play the Panthers in Week 5.

10.) Los Angeles Rams

This spot could have gone to a number of teams, including the Chargers, Bengals, or Ravens. But instead, I stuck with the defending Champs. However, the Rams have not looked good this year and that continued on Monday Night against the 49ers. Matthew Stafford doesn’t trust anybody but Cooper Kupp (14 receptions for 122 yards) and that offensive line looks shaky. The Rams will need to get it together fast as they host the 3-1 Cowboys this week.
