Week 7 NFL Power Rankings

Week 6 of the NFL season wrapped up with another shitshow Primetime game, but thankfully we don’t have to see the Broncos again for quite some time. The rest of the weekend saw wild action, including some big upsets, including the Steelers defeating the Buccaneers, the Jets defeating the Packers, and the Falcons beating the 49ers. Because of those defeats, the Bucs and Packers dropped pretty significantly and the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets moved into the Power 10 for the first time this season. In addition to the upsets, we saw the Bills go into Kansas City and defeat the Chiefs and the Eagles defeat the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. Because of those victories, the Eagles and Bills remained atop the Power 10. And listen, if you’re reading this you probably think the Bills should be in that top spot, and I don’t necessarily disagree with you (nor does Twitter, see below) but I can’t disrespect the Eagles. They are undefeated and they have no glaring weaknesses. So because of that, the Eagles stay in that top spot.

1.) Philadelphia Eagles (6-0)

The record speaks for itself. The Eagles are playing great on both sides of the ball and have no weaknesses. They defeated the Cowboys 26-17 on SNF, led by MVP candidate Jalen Hurts, who was efficient passing for two TDs. The defense had a big game as they picked Cooper Rush off 3 times. The Eagles secondary is the real deal. Darius Slay is a beast and C.J Gardener-Johnson is playing great football. Stop sleeping on this team! The Eagles play the Steelers in Week 7.

2.) Buffalo Bills (5-1)

The Bills remain second after defeating the Chiefs 24-20 in a potential AFC title game. And listen, I know the Bills are the most talented team in football, but again I am not going to disrespect what the Eagles have done. But this was a huge win for the Bills, especially since they want the road to the Super Bowl to go through Buffalo. Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs showed why they are the best QB-WR duo in the NFL. Allen passed for 329 yds and 3 TDs while Diggs caught 10 balls for 148 yds and a score. The Bills have a bye this week before hosting the Packers in Week 8.

3.) Kansas City Chiefs (4-2)

The Chiefs lost to the Bills 24-20 at home in Week 6 but they still remain in the third spot. When you look around the NFL right now, it’s the Eagles, Bills, Chiefs, and then everyone else. I won’t knock the Chiefs for losing to the most talented team in the league. The Chiefs travel to the Bay area to take on the 49ers in Week 7.

4.) Minnesota Vikings (5-1)

The Vikings continue to move up in the Power 10 (as I said they would last week) after defeating the Miami Dolphins 24-16. The Vikings offense was led by Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson. Cook rushed for 77 yds and a score while Jefferson caught 6 balls for 107 yds. The Vikes play the Cardinals in Week 7.

5.) New York Giants (5-1)

Brian Daboll is THE MAN!! I begged and pleaded (on Twitter) for the Bears to sign him. They didn’t. But, the Giants did. And fuck is it paying off. The Giants are now 5-1 after defeating the previous Power 10 ranked Ravens 24-20. The Giants were led by Daniel Jones who was efficient passing for 173 yds and 2 TDs and Saquan Barkley who rushed for 83 yards and a score. The Giants continue to get no respect as they are a 3 point underdog to the 2-4 Jaguars in Week 7.

6.) Dallas Cowboys (4-2)

The Cowboys are a very good football team and get Dak back this week. Cooper Rush did an awesome job in Dak’s stead, leading the Cowboys to 4-1 record but that 1 was a costly one as it game this past week on Sunday Night Football against the Eagles. Rush threw 3 picks in the game and those turnovers ended up being the difference in the game. However, even in a loss, the Cowboys showed grit. They were down at one point 20-0 and worked their way back to a 20-17 deficit but ultimately the Eagles would pull away. The Cowboys the Lions and then the Bears in the next two weeks. I would expect to see them at 6-2 and back in the Top 5 after Week 8.

7.) Los Angeles Chargers (4-2)

The Chargers move up 3 spots this week in the Power 10 after defeating the Broncos in an ugly Monday Night game. They move up almost by default as the 49ers and Bucs lost and ultimately a win is a win but again, it was an ugly one. The Chargers offense continues to struggle without Keenan Allen, only putting up 19 points. Justin Herbert passed 57 times for 238 yds and no TDs and Austin Ekeler only managed 36 yards on the ground. But again a win is a win. The Chargers play the Seahawks in Week 7.

8.) New York Jets (4-2)

The J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets, are in the Power 10 for the first time this season. The Jets are playing really good football thus far this season and continue to win road games as they defeated the Green Bay Packers 27-10 in Lambeau. This is the Jets third road victory of the season. The Jets were led by Breece Hall on the ground. Hall rushed for 116 yds and a score. The Jets play the Broncos in Week 7.

9.) San Francisco 49ers (3-3)

These last two spots were a crapshoot but I gave them to the two teams that I felt were the best 3-3 teams in the league. So here we are. The 49ers lost to the Falcons 28-14 in a game where they couldn’t get much of anything going. It doesn’t get any easier for the 49ers as they host the Chiefs this weekend.

10.) Los Angeles Rams (3-3)

The Rams are back in the Power 10 after defeating the hapless Panthers 24-10. It wasn’t a particularly pretty game for the Rams but they got the job done and move back to .500. Matthew Stafford continues to look shaky at best but a win is a win and right now I think they are a better football the Ravens, Bucs, Packers, Bengals, and other 3-3 teams. With that being said, they are still far from the team that they were last season. The Rams have a bye week this week and then host the 49ers in a huge matchup in Week 8.
